Vegetable chopper

I have to agree that I have too many variations of this appliance in my kitchen right from grater to grater with various attachments to make chopping easy to mixture with fixtures to use for chopping veggies, chopping jar with handle and sharp blades which will do the job!

Though each of them came with their advantages /disadvantages.  I learnt that If you have to fix the attachments to make use of it , its not something that you will use very often.  My personal favorite is basic chopper which just does the chopping job.  Its a blessing with chopping of onions and tomatoes for basic gravies and also cuts veggies like carrot, beans, cabbage etc very fine.  I would recommend all to have this basic version of chopper handy!  Its no hassel device and safe for kids also to handle.

Air fryer

Like With the most urban folks our lifestyle forces us to stay long hours at work, on road travelling or being stationary at a place.  We don't have much of physical exercise these days however most of us love cooking and eating the way our generations have eaten ! Resulting into lots of issues especially the one with fried food.

Air Fryer is a great choice for people who love to eat fry food but want to save themselves from guilt of the same.  I bought mine after lots of internal debate /discussions on do I really need it but from the time I have got it - its found permanent place in my kitchen.  There are many things that I do other then just frying using this air fryer.  I think its one of the useful kitchen appliance for urban women.

I do not have microwave oven and at times I use it as substitute of microwave.

So far I have done following things with my air fryer and the journey continues. If you know of anything else that you can do please do drop a note for benefit of others like us.  Though when I brought the air fryer very limited brands were available and there were very less blogs/videos on the recipes using the same but today I see the community around it growing as well :)

Things that I have done with my air fryer other then using it as microwave replacement!
  • Roasting of peanuts to make chikki , masala peanuts or just an evening snack
  • roasting of dryfruits to present in dryfruit tray or use into sweets or choclates
  • French fries - they are sinfully good as the fried version!
  • aloo tikkis
  • vegetable sheek kabab
  • garlic bread
  • cheese balls
  • cake
  • onion pakoda (after parital frying)
  • pizza
  • raw banana chips
  • corn cheese tikkis

Coconut grater attachment with wet grinder

In most South Indian households coconut grater/scraper in various avatar is already present.  I did not have one and my husband's elder brother's wife gifted me this one with my wet grinder.  Its a pure joy to use and takes very less effort for grating.  Its most useful when  you have to do bulk grating eg Onam celebrations when I am trying to invite lots of friends home or when I want to make some coconut sweet!

Its a very basic attachment, comes at a good price  and is very useful.  I would recommend it as must buy especially if your grinder has a permanent space in your kitchen ie you don't have to take it out from a shelf and connect it every time you want to use it.

This is useful for anyone who uses atleast 2-3 coconuts a week!

Useful appliances can make life really easy!

I have seen 2 kind of people when it comes to appliances one who owns everything under the sun and other who don't think appliances are really required.  Though over time kitchen appliances like mixer , grinder etc have become part of our life there are many other appliances out there which can really be useful but we don't even try to look out for them or think they are necessary.  I belong to the 2nd category of people.  Though my husband would often encourage me to check out some new appliances I would not want to get them home.  I had a pleasant surprise multiple times when my brothers, sister-in-laws or even my mom later on gifted the very same appliances and how useful they were!

My husband has now learnt the trick, he just gifts me things that he thinks are useful:)

I decided to write this blog to help many other women/girls who might be in dilemma wrt some kitchen appliances and their usefulness.

Hope you like them and do give me inputs /feedback on any appliances that you found useful or are considering buying but are not able to make decisions about!
